Itroduction of Amma
Born in a poor and remote village in Kerala (South India) and educated only up to basic standard, Amma, also known as Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, isnow a world-renowned spiritual leader and the founder and administer of a vast network of charitable activities. These activities are known collectively as Embracing the World. Amma’s organization has a consultative status with the United Nations since 2005, and her charitable programs are presently unfolding in 40 countries. Known as the hugging saint, Amma has personally embraced more than 30 million people throughout the world.
Once asked by the BBC, “Why do you hug people?” Amma replied, “That is like asking a river, ‘Why do you flow?’ It simply flows because that is its nature. In the same way, this is Amma’s nature — a mother expressing her love to her children.”
For Amma, unconditional love is our very essence, the one True Self that resides in the heart of us all. LOVE is the answer, LOVE is the way.
