"Tranquil Being" - Chuanyan Hike

" Persistence. The ability to keep going no matter what obstacles are placed in your way.
The more action you take, the closer you get to your goal. Belief and Persistence go hand-in-hand.
As your belief level goes, so do you. If your belief goes up and down like a yo-yo, so will your success.
There is no way around it. So if you feel that your mind plays games with you. Focus and play games with your mind instead."
- Gary Coxe

small group of people which only brought the warm feelings and close feelings being in nature.
As soon as we started the hike, everyone was amazed by the gorgeous views all around.. in the morning the fresh scent of tea in the air, everywhere we can see tea fields and even spotted some workers concentrating on the task of tea picking.
The greens of the trees, so incredibly green :) the sweet sound of birds touching us deeply in our hearts and bringing out an exhilarating feeling, this feeling that we get from being around too much beauty! The kind we can only find in nature. We hiked for hours, but never got tired of the amazing surroundings and the beautiful stones, majestieux, and the beautiful blue skies .
Chuanyan was simply breathtaking!

Jinze mountain hike and camping

During this hike we learnt about persistence and reaching our goal because the hike was more difficult than some of us expected it to be. We all had our mind set to tackle this obstacle because we were determined to reach the top. Everyone had their own way of taking charge of the situation and everyone decided on their own pace while still sticking together as a unity. It was a refreshing, inspiring and empowering trip where everyone motivated each other to keep going, it led us to seek challenges and learning, to value effort, and to persist effectively in the face of obstacles. Looking back it was all worth the extra push in the back because everything is possible as long as you keep being active and persist. The ending result is something we'll won't forget.

"Making a thousand decisions, even the wise will make a mistake. Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere & failure is the mother of success."
As all the Chinese people return to their hometown during Chinese New Year, Shanghai turns into a more quiet and less crowded place to hang around. To enjoy the Chinese New Year and do what we love to do, we got out of Shanghai with a group of participants.
On the first late night arrival a bonfire (with some beer) was prepared to have a good start and get into the mood.
The second day turned out to be rainy, however that didn't stop anyone from hiking.. The challenge was on, as everyone wrapped themselves up for the whole day hike.
7.5 hours and 13.7 km further.. indeed it was tough hike, especially for a 10- years old boy, a very lovely boy who accomplished to finish this tough mission.
Although the day was foggy, we could enjoy the nature in it's purest form and we named this moment the 'blind hike'. Creativity was on it's best during this trip ;). To keep warm and out of the pouring rain we decided to set up a small party inside the guesthouse and enjoy ourselves either way!
On the final day the tiredness kicked in, luckily it was a day of relaxation and we could immerse ourselves into the hotspring and indulge on some good food.

Before Bilbo sets out on an adventure, his idea of it is "nasty, uncomfortable things, making you late for dinner". You can hardly call one- day cycling in Chongming an adventure, no globlins and no elves, but my legs and arms are sore, and dinner cannot be counted on, still it was a wonderful day spent with YEJO. Lazy bones, get off your sofa and come to enjoy nature!

Lassie(YEJO leader) :‘It was the first trip of 2015 for me and all the participants, even though it was just a small group, we still wanted to make this trip happen.. to just enjoy nature and to be free.’
For the 'Stone roots' weekend activity , a young American couple, one Czech lady and a friend of hers from Australia, a father with his 7- years old daughter from China, joined me.
The first day was a whole day hike. It was not too difficult for the group, but for our little girl it must’ve been a little bit challenging. Thus, credits must be given to this little strong girl because she never cried and never complained.. she actually did a great job!!
The hike started from Jiumu village and afterwards lunch was provided in Lengwuding village, which was two hours away from our guesthouse by hiking the mountain up and down. On our way back we visited a temple. There was only 1 monk in this temple and he was super hospitable, he showed us a tea performance! Everyone enjoyed this part a lot.. afterwards a different route back to Jiumu village was taken. After dinner, we had a bonfire outside for a bounding moment, and we got to know each other more..
On the second day a visit to the tea garden was made. The local people were building houses for the upcoming tea season in April. The tea from this garden is the most famous tea in this area, named the ‘Anji Bai Cha’. The owner needs to prepare a lot before April to make sure they can get the best and the most fresh tea on time.
Overall, everyone enjoyed this trip very much, we all felt a bit sad when we had to say goodbye to the guesthouse and this beautiful village..

“"Preserve his natural gaits. Preserve his personality. Preserve his instinct to go forward. Do this and you must be successful because you are respecting nature's wisdom."”
― Franz Mairinger
Trust your horse and it will trust you too. Whatever your mood is when you are riding, the horse will sense it. Stay calm and relaxed and the horse will feel your peaceful energy. These were a couple of tips given to me before we started the ride. I had never ridden a horse before and it went quite well because I trusted my horse. All the horses have their own personality, one is more stubborn than the other, however no one lost control over their horse during the ride. We could enjoy the nature around us and were also challenged as a group of beginners when the horses started to trot during our second ride. After the 11 km ride we got off our horses and we could see the sun set..
