About the retreat
These 2 days retreat in temple will invite you to live a peaceful moment out of the running time of Shanghai. During two days, you will join the rhythms of local monks, joining their chanting early in the morning. You will discover the Mindfulness techniques to develop the awareness of the present moment to help your self-management. You will practice the traditional Chinese Qigong well known to unblock tensions of the body, release chronical pains and improve vitality. A unique experience of wellbeing and cultural expansion of your soul! Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings,bodily sensations, and surrounding environment. Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong”way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future. Scientific research shows that mindfulness have positive impact on immune’s system, stress, depression,memorization, boost empathy, enhances relationships and more.

Gathering: Time: 09:00 Place: (unless notified differently) Zhongshan Park Subway Station, Line 3-4, Exit 3 (Chang ning road cross Kaixuan road) Beside the 7-Eleven shop Meals: The meals will be vegetable food, fresh and various kind of local cuisine in a traditional way. Simple and Healthy. Qigong Introduction Qigong is a both ancient and modern Chinese practice to improve physical and mental well-being and preserve health. It consists on dynamic exercises of gentle movements coordinated with breathing, as well as of meditation and relaxation techniques. During this retreat, we will discover practice of the Shanghai Qigong Research Institute which belonging to the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. This place has 30 years of history and it is one of the only two official medical institutions in China devoted to the study of medical qigong. It focuses on three main activities: Scientific Research on Qigong; Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic services; and the teaching of Qigong, in the frame of the Qidao School. Teacher - Valérie Donval Dr.Valérie Donval is a French Doctor graduated from the Paris West University.Qualified in general medicine, she have more than 20 years of medical experience include 7 years in private clinic. She have been also trained in internal medicine and geriatric, completed her geriatric training with various certification (phsycho-geriatric, neuro-geratric) and get trained in re-education and physical medicine. She have a special expertise in of cardiac,neurologic and infectious pathologies.Teacher - Cynthia Lebrun Cynthiagot a Master in Psychology from the University Libres of Bruxelles and from various training in the same field. She have 28 years of experience working with teenager, adult and leading talking group therapy. During all her carrier, she get used to work both in public institution and with her freelance therapy. Teacher - Marceau Chenault Marceau Chenault is managing the International Training at Shanghai Qigong Research Institute since 2013, and is teaching traditional and contemporary dances in the College of Physical Education and Health, at East China Normal University (ECNU). He have been practicing and teaching various disciplines: Judo for more than thirty years, Qigong and Contemporary Dance since 1998. He is the co-innovator of the Qi Dance training at the Shanghai Qigong Research Institute, and the co-founder of the collective group Qi Dance Project based on the creation of site-specific performances with multidisciplinary artists. Ph.D. qualified in Anthropology, Marceau is also the author of publications for Human and Social Sciences about Awareness Techniques. He currently holds workshops and conferences in France, Spain and China.
