Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Montreal airport, shuttle to Sherbrooke. Your host will pick you up at the bus terminal in Sherbrooke (1 hour by car from the equestrian center). Arrival at the equestrian center. Then you can rest from your trip, and discover your unusual accommodation for these first two nights: a pleasant cottage by a lake where you will stay two nights. A simple accommodation in an exceptional setting by the lake, with shared rooms and a shared bathroom. Day 2 (about 4 hours riding): Breakfast prepared by the host (coffee, tea, fruit, pancake batter, muffins). Then at 9 a.m., presentation of the stay and the route you will take during the week. Discovery of the equestrian center and infrastructure. At 10am, preparation and presentation of horses and introduction to Western riding in the arena. Then, through fields and forests, you will take advantage of this first day on horseback to relax and fill yourself with good energy thanks to the magnificent viewpoints of the surrounding mountains and Megantic lake. Lunch, carried in your saddle bags, will be taken during the ride. You will stop in a furnished and decorated teepee or you can enjoy a coffee or tea heated by the fire. Return to the equestrian center around 3.30pm and snack. In the evening, overnight meal. Non-horse riding activities: once the horses are harnessed and rewarded for this first ride, you can enjoy all kinds of activities (swimming and pedal boating at the lake on our private beach, walking by the lake and on our land by the stream) or simply relax and rest while strolling around the equestrian center: the atmosphere is calm and conducive to rest. Optional (50 euros for an hour and a half): a passionate professional with a diploma in massage therapy near the equestrian center (the owner's sister) offers all types of massage in her relaxing chalet lasting an hour and a half. Day 3 (about 5 hours riding): At 9 a.m., preparation of horses with saddlebags for lunch. Then you leave for a great adventure on horseback! You start with rang des Greniers (dirt road in Quebec) and the "pioneers" route where the breathtaking views are worth seeing. You cross the old village farm with its dairy cows. Some of these, of the Ayrshires type, regularly win world prizes. You cross this beautiful property while galloping in a plain to reach the forest. Suddenly, change of scenery: you enter a beautiful maple grove to join forest paths. Discover the boreal forest of Quebec. Through mountains and valleys, this ride of about 5 hours, offers you extraordinary panoramas of the Mégantic region and its national park. You arrive at the Chalet Condo, a typical wooden accommodation. You take advantage of the calm of the domain and the last rays of sun crossing the trees before your meal. Day 4 (about 3h30 riding). After a good breakfast, tasted at the chalet with the first fields of birds (on the menu, coffee / tea, pancakes, fruit, maple syrups, peanut butter, jam, eggs, ...) it's time to prepare your mount for other adventures! At 10am, you will go to Frédérick's land, they are rich in entertainment. Between maple trees and a sugar shack, its 19th century village with its well, its lake, its trading post, its sheriff's office and its period grocery store, you feel in another world: that of the pioneers of Quebec. You will have a lunch break by the lake. Then, you continue towards Mont Megantic (350,000 tourists visit the Megantic region every year and 65,000 outdoor enthusiasts go to Mont-Megantic National Park). Change of scenery ! Through forest paths, some plains where you will make magnificent gallops. You arrive at the "Aurore" Inn where you will spend two nights. Far from the noise and light of the city, the Inn is more than a century old. It offers a sober, Victorian-inspired decor. The outdoor terraces are flowered and invite you to relax. The view is once again spectacular: on one side, the “Appalachian” mountain range and, on the other, Megantic park. With a little luck, you may even spot a borealis aurora ! Once the horses are released, you will have a snack with them, the enclosure is almost in the garden of the owner of the Inn. Relax or walk around the hostel. Dinner prepared by your host, based on local products and his vegetable patch. Non-horse riding activities: you are 5 minutes by car from a star observation site, the largest in western Canada (Astrolab), it would be a shame not to take advantage of it ! You will therefore go, after the meal, to spend an astronomical evening. The tour will start at 8 p.m. and the first part will be in the multimedia room where, under a virtual sky, you will discover the rhythms of the sky and the secret of the stars. In the second part, you will get to practice observing the splendor of the universe using giant binoculars and telescopes. Day 5 (about 4 hours riding): Your host will prepare you an original breakfast: homemade yogurt, fresh organic fruit juice, tea / herbal tea / coffee, waffles, pancakes, maple syrup, omelet stuffed with smoked ham and old cheddar. Then in this magnificent corner of paradise, you take superb trails. Your route passes close to the border path, a 135 km path for riders on foot, it climbs all the highest peaks of the eastern cantons. You can see the Appalachians, a mountain range spanning 2,000 kilometers East of North America. The famous Appalachian Trail passes through the Maine peaks (a state in the United States bordering on Estria). NBack at the hostel, you can enjoy the flower-filled terraces or stroll around and stretch your legs around. Day 6 (about 5 hours riding). After breakfast, you leave the Inn and Mont-Megantic by the green plains to join forest tracks, sometimes with a lake, sometimes with a sugar shack. You will be able to see many deers and, hopefully, the golden eagle. A calm and serene atmosphere emerges from the forest. In the middle of nowhere: a lake. You join your accommodation by the lake for the next two nights: Flora garden chalet, where you can enjoy its outdoor jacuzzi before dinner prepared by your cook, always using local products typical of Quebec. Barbecue grilling will be possible. Day 7 (about 4h30 riding): After breakfast, you leave this peace haven to get closer to Lac Megantic for your last horse riding day. Through superb forest paths, you will reach an old trail through the boreal forest of Quebec. You will have the impression of being the first “coureurs des bois”. You return to Chalet Flora in the middle of the afternoon. It’s time to say goodbye to your horse, which gave you great fun and discovery during the week. Last snack before joining your room with incredible views. You will end this beautiful adventure with the picturesque village of Piopolis and its marina. Dinner will be taken at the chalet, in the lounge with a panoramic view of the lake. Day 8: Breakfast in the living room where the view is breathtaking.
